Poetry & Prose that Sparks the Imagination
Sparks is a literary journal that seeks to publish Poetry, Flash Fiction and Short Stories that ‘spark’ the imagination. Whether that be a story about aliens, or just about a run to the shops, it doesn’t matter. We have no restriction on type or genre. Unlike many literary journals, we’re not bothered how literary in style it is. Once it is a story that sparks the imagination and rivets the reader, we will be interested in publishing it. Sparks began life as the idea of Chelsea Bright, a young, unpublished writer unsatisfied with the current Irish literary journal landscape. Sparks is located in the heart of the Midlands of Ireland in county Westmeath, where a rich literary heritage has so far gone (mostly) unexplored. Sparks seeks to fill this void by showcasing not just writers from the midlands, but writers from all over the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. We also highly encourage submissions from writers from under-represented communities in the Irish literary scene and in Irish society as a whole.
