For Women in Sport Week, Bishopstown Orienteering Club, in conjunction with Orienteering Ireland, is organising a special introductory session to the sport of orienteering for women (and accompanying children), at their event on Sunday 12th March, on Fota Island, just outside Cork City.
Orienteering is an exciting and challenging outdoor adventure sport that exercises body and mind. The aim is to find your way around a series of checkpoints, using only a map, and your brains.
It is suitable for all ages, fitness levels and abilities.
At 10:30, an orienteering instructor will be to hand to give an overview of the sport and the skills involved. This will be followed by participants trying out an orienteering course around Fota Island. You will get to wear a special finger timing device with you around the course.
Fun always guaranteed.
