About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

The theme of this evening, "Unfolding Stories", explores the powerful journeys of individuals whose lives have been transformed through the healing work of Emergency NGO. We will share stories of patients who have received vital medical care, demonstrating the resilience and strength of those facing adversity. Through this theme, we celebrate both the personal and collective capacity for renewal and healing, illustrating the universal story of transformation.

Dublin is a city known for its youthful energy, dynamic culture, and its ability to reinvent itself throughout history. Bringing the theme of Rebirth to Dublin is an opportunity to celebrate the city's resilience and its ability to continually reinvent itself. This event represents the start of a new artistic and solidarity-driven year, where culture is the seed for growth and new beginnings.

We’re excited to be starting the year in Dublin, a city that embodies the spirit of renewal, creativity, and connection. Through this event, we will celebrate new beginnings and the power of art to create meaningful change.

The Artists:

  1. Malini Agrahar
Malini is a celebrated performing artist and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam. With over two decades of experience, she brings elegance and grace to the stage. Her deep training in the 108 Karanas of the Natyasastra, combined with her knowledge of Carnatic Vocal, Veena, and Yoga, makes her performances mesmerizing. Malini’s dedication to Indian classical arts has led her to perform internationally, from Australia to the UK and Ireland.
  2. The Tenters
The Tenters are a vibrant Gypsy Jazz and Manouche Swing band based in Dublin. Composed of a five-piece band (fiddle, double bass, and three guitars), they bring the energetic sounds of Django Reinhardt to life. They’ve played at numerous festivals and events across Ireland and internationally, collaborating with guest singers to create special performances. Don’t miss them swinging in honor of Django at this event.
  3. Elaine O'Dea and Evin O'Brien
Elaine has been singing since the age of 10, and with years of classical voice training and experience in jazz, blues, and folk music, she brings a unique style to every performance. She has been running the Upstairs Sessions, bringing together musicians and performers for the past six years. Elaine will be joined by Evin O’Brien and Paul Armstrong, creating a beautiful musical collective that will captivate the audience.
Guitarist, arranger and composer, Evin O’Brien is a regular contributor to Dublin’s live music scene. His signature approach as a guitarist draws from his experience performing a variety of genres, from gypsy jazz to classical & flamenco. He has collaborated with a diverse selection of acts including; The Tenters Quintet, Rynx Laneran, BiG Fridge, Christian Wethered & Yankari Afrobeat Collective, to name a few.

The Event Format: The evening will open with Malini Agrahar’s graceful Bharatanatyam performance, followed by The Tenters, who will bring their lively Gypsy Jazz to the stage, and closing with Elaine O'Dea and Evin O’Brien, who will perform a heartfelt set of folk, jazz, and blues music.
