The Ballincollig Winter Music Festival 2025 is proud to present a Vocal Workshop with renowned vocal coach Áine Whelan.

Áine is a vocalist who has toured throughout USA, Canada, Europe, UK and Ireland with international artists encompassing popular music, rock, country, folk and roots, jazz and musical theatre. She has twenty years experience of live performance and studio
recording with artists such as Van Morrison, Nick Lowe, Donovan, Sharon Corr, Colm Wilkinson, Rebecca Storm and Brian Kennedy.


She has recorded for Universal, Decca, Verve, Geffen, Proper, Lost Highway and Rhino Records, appearing on over one hundred television shows as a vocalist and vocal arranger for BBC, PBS, UTV and RTE. Áine’s first solo album and songwriting debut ‘Between The Moon and Mercury’ earned her a nomination for Tatler Magazine’s ‘Woman of The Year’ award. She also appeared in the Canadian Film Bloomsday Cabaret which premiered at The Cannes Film Festival.


Before lecturing on the BA in Popular Music at CIT Cork School of Music, Áine was vocal teacher and performance coach on the Music, Management and Sound course at Coláiste Stíofáin Naofa from 2005 until 2012. She was also musical director and voice coach at Kinsale College of Further Education for their productions of Annie Get Your Gun (2010), Hair (2011) and Chicago (2012)


Áine has also taught singing, piano, guitar and directed popular music ensembles at Cork City Music College. Áine holds first class honours MA in Performance (voice), first class honours Bachelor of Music and a licentiate teaching diploma LRSL.

Upstairs at The White Horse is an intimate black box music venue.

We regularly host national and international artists as well as theatre productions and comedy nights.

It is also home to The Ballincollig Winter Music Festival which takes place every January.
