International Roma Day is celebrated every year on the 8th of April and marks the opening day of the first World Roma Congress in London in 1971. Across Europe, the day celebrates and raises awareness of Romani Culture.

We welcome you to join us on UCD's beautiful campus to celebrate International Roma Day. On the day, we will hear from our keynote speaker, Marie Bowers. Marie has developed and leads the outreach project 'Science Travels' aiming to raise Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller engagement with STEMM. We will also hear from Vanessa Paszkowska, who is a member of the Roma Team at Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre, Vanessa will discuss Roma history, the significance of International Roma Day and Roma in Ireland today.
