Week 2:
Raphael Hynes discusses when Modern life becomes the subject for the artist.
Week 3:
Raphael Hynes discusses when the artist no longer feels obliged to depict a “realistic” representation of the world but instead creates a personal vision in which colour and brush work are used as a means of expression.
Week 4:
Raphael Hynes discusses when the flat surface of the painting becomes all important as the artist turns away from depicting the illusion of three dimensional space and concentrates instead on the expression of emotions.
Week 5:
Raphael Hynes discusses when the painting becomes its own reality.
