Do you support service users /owners to voice their opinions and feedback in your organisation? Have they a space and a channel for their voice to be heard? The following learning event is for you.
The DFI Self-Advocacy Programme is a partnership between DFI, our member organisations, key workers and self-advocates. Through this programme DFI is working to support member organisations to promote, develop, and strengthen self-advocacy in their organisations.
In response to member requests DFI is holding a learning and sharing event on the topic of Self-Advocacy.
The DFI 'Making Advocacy Real' event takes place on Thursday 30 November 2023 in the Metropole Hotel Cork. It will begin at 10.30am and will conclude at 1.00pm. A light lunch will be provided.
This is a DFI member-only event and registration is free.
Many DFI members are already engaged in supporting self- advocacy, peer advocacy and service user/owner representation, while others are eager to learn how and where to start on this journey.
The aims for the 'Making Advocacy Real' event are:
• To explore and share member experiences of setting up, supporting and promoting self-advocacy.
• Create a space with peers to discuss the challenges and opportunities which arise for members, taking note of variations for large, medium and, smaller Members.
• Offer peer support and insights to Members who are starting the journey.
• Offer information on resources and supports available to Members.

• Senior Managers
• Operations Managers
• Day Service Managers/Programme Co-ordinators
• Persons responsible for Advocacy /Person Centred Planning
• Team Leaders /Persons responsible for the delivery of services /supports to persons with lived experience.
