All the way from Australia come the Barleyshakes, a band of musicians with a pedigree and history full of colourful career highlights. Saturday July 19 at the venue in Walter’s promises to be something truly special. The Barleyshakes formed in Dun Laoghaire in 1994 and quickly became one of Ireland’s groundbreaking traditional touring acts. They played alongside such acts as Metallica, Joe Cocker and Altan before moving to Oz in 2000, where notably they recorded on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack and headlined Australia’s major festivals.
In Australia the Shakes quickly became the leading light in all this Irish folk and they command genuine respect throughout the music world.
