About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

The lecture, on 'Queen Victoria's visit to Killarney in 1861' will be given by local historian Frank Tracy. Frank Tracy is a retired public servant with a lifelong interest in history. In addition to giving talks on various historical topics, Frank also leads groups on historically related walks. Frank is the author of If Those Trees Could Speak: The Story of an Ascendancy Family in Ireland which chronicles the family history of Lord Massy of Duntrileague, published by South Dublin Libraries in 2005.

This event is dedicated to the memory of Kieran Swords, late County Librarian for South Dublin County.Kieran was passionate about local history and indeed it is thanks to him that we have such a rich resource in the Local Studies Collection at the County Library in Tallaght. Kieran sadly passed away in 2015 and his huge loss is still greatly felt by all of us in South Dublin Libraries and in the wider community.
