About this event
TANGENT aims to bring together writers of all kinds - songwriters, poets, authors, storytellers, and hobbyists - and enable them to tap into their own creative flow.
Through creative prompts, conversation starters, and sharing ideas with like-minded people, we hope you leave this event feeling connected, inspired, and eager to put your pen to paper.
You are invited to engage in the prompts in whichever way you choose - this might look like chatting to a new face across the table to get inspired, or quietly writing in your journal. It might be jotting down words and phrases that catch your ear for a future creative project, or doodling aimlessly while you listen to the buzz of the café. You won't be asked to share what you write.
Just bring a journal, a pen, and a book for our book swap - the rest is up to you! 🍊
Frequently asked questions
Absolutely! Tangent is for anyone who writes, in any capacity.
No! There is no 'sharing' portion of the event. This space is for you to tap into your own process. You are of course welcome to talk about what you've written with the other people at your table, but there is no expectation to do so.
A journal and pen, and a book for our 'Book Swap' table - leave a book, take a book.
Questions to skip the small talk - e.g. "What was the last thing that you created that you really loved?" "What would your younger self not believe about your life today?" "In what ways have you changed the most this past year?"
No - you can engage with the questions on your own terms, and you are welcome to pick another question if you hate the one you get! We're a space for both introverts and extroverts. Show up how you are - to connect with a group, or to quietly engage with your own creative process.
