This introductory workshop invites costume professionals to learn basic tools for navigating consent, boundaries, and sensitivities. Participants will learn about the process of consent-based practices in the design, planning, fitting and ongoing support of actors and their own team while creating costume for Intimate Content on Stage.

Topics will include:

  • Exploring conditions that can best support creation of Intimate Content
  • Principles of consent-based practice, and working within boundaries
  • Thoughts around diversity and inclusion regarding costume
  • Creative collaboration for dressing/undressing scenes
  • Establishing and maintaining boundaries for fittings and quick changes
  • More effective communication around supporting Intimate Content
  • The role of an Intimacy Director and how can they support your work
  • Sourcing, fitting and making intimacy garments
  • Closure, deroling and self-care

Who should apply?
This training session is catered for costume professionals within theatre, opera, dance and film. Applicants must be able to demonstrate at least two years of professional experience within their Costume discipline. Applicants should be 18+.

Please note:

Please wear loose clothing as there will be practical work on the floor.

There will be no nudity, lip-to-lip contact or acting of intimate scenes.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thurs 17 October.

Cost: €15 (Access costs will be covered, and travel bursaries will be offered to participants based outside Dublin – applicants must be resident on the island of Ireland)
