WHAT?
You are invited to attend a webinar and Q&A session showcasing results and policy recommendations arising from the EU funded project: ICARE4FARMS.
This project set out to boost the use of solar thermal energy (STE) in farming across 4 pilot sites in North West Europe. The aim was to show how STE can contribute to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in the sector and increase the share of renewable energies (RE), to help the transition to a low-carbon economy, meeting the EU 2030 goal of 27% share for RE.
This webinar aims to highlight the advantages of next generation STE systems for a greener future and encourage support and funding to promote the uptake of these solutions.
WHY?
Since the Paris Agreements, many EU Member States have prioritized reducing (GHG) and developing RE systems.
Agriculture, the leading producer of green energy consumes large quantities of fossil fuels. STE, long neglected in the Northern and Western region, due to its climate, is increasingly recognized as an operative alternative energy source, replacing gas, oil and electricity.
STE uses the power of the sun to heat water for use in homes, agricultural and industrial buildings. STE is an affordable RE technology to heat water and has a huge potential to replace fossil energies.
The ICARE4FARMS project has explored the potential development of STE in the region and identified the most relevant application of STE in local agriculture.
WHO?
This webinar is open to all and is targeted at policy makers working at EU, national, regional and local level, as well as farmers, researchers and anyone interested in reducing GHG emissions using RE energies through sustainable farming. The link to the webinar will be sent to all registrants shortly before the event.
