Returning to Ireland after living abroad from many years can be both an exciting as well as challenging experience. Some people return in a planned fashion and can manoeuvre the return and resettlement process with ease. However, we know some people return in challenging situations and due to a myriad of reasons, find the return process quite daunting.
We set up the Returned Emigrants Network in 2023 in Co. Laois, to act a social hub to promote wellbeing, a chance for returned Irish to meet up and support each other, especially during the early days of resettlement. The Network also addresses some of the challenges and difficulties people have encountered on their return and advocate for change at a policy level.
The Network was formally launched by Seán Fleming, Minister of State, Department of Foreign Affairs (International Development and Diaspora) on Saturday 12th October 2024.
