UNESCO Chair on Bullying and Cyberbullying Annual Lecture 2024

Welcome to the annual lecture hosted by the UNESCO Chair on Bullying and Cyberbullying! Join us in person at the DCU St. Patrick's Campus, Seamus Heaney Lecture Theatre, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 for an insightful discussion on tackling cyberbullying. This keynote, given by Prof. Andrew Przybylski from the Oxford Internet Institute, will delve into the evolving discussion around the impacts of internet-mediated technologies and artificial intelligence on young people’s mental health. Andrew will challenge prevailing assumptions and emphasise the critical need to rethink the narrative surrounding technological harms. He will explore how past research missteps have shaped our current understanding and discuss how we can take a proactive approach to build a more accurate evidence base for future studies. Through this keynote, Prof. Przybylski will offer a roadmap for researchers, caregivers, and policymakers alike. His goal is to advocate for a collaborative, evidence-based framework that truly reflects how young people both shape and are shaped by the technologies of tomorrow.

This lecture will be followed by a panel discussion, Q&A and drinks reception.

This is not a hybrid event. The lecture will take place IN PERSON and a recording will be made available after the event.

Prof. Andrew Przybylski, Professor of Human Behaviour and Technology at the University of Oxford.
