About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

CIPD Eastern Region Inaugural Event.

We are honoured to host our Keynote speaker:

  • Kevin Foley, recent Chairman of the Labour Court,

The topic Kevin will share with the participants is

‘A perspective from a privileged third party neutral on engagement between workers and employers over a period of more than 30 years’

The chosen theme for our first event is "Reconnecting with Purpose," this is inspired by feedback from our CIPD members obtained through a recent survey, highlighting our aspirations for personal growth and development.

This event is designed to foster an environment conducive to expanding your professional network, connecting with like-minded individuals, and acquiring actionable tools to enhance your leadership capabilities within your field.

We encourage you to attend with an open mind, a spirit of curiosity, and a willingness to embrace transformative opportunities.

Speaker bio

Kevin Foley has worked with employers and workers as a neutral third party since 1991, and in the area of employment relations for many years before that.

He recently retired after 9 years as Chairman of the Labour Court. He had previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Court.

Prior to his appointment to the Court he was Director of Conciliation, Mediation and Facilitation Services with the Labour Relations Commission since 2005 and had worked as a Conciliator and Manager with the Commission since 1991. He chaired the Industrial Council of the ESB for a period of 10 years and has chaired national engagement fora in a range of industries and sectors including the Health Sector, the Security Industry, the Construction Industry and the Retail Grocery sector.

He has been involved in the resolution of many of the major industrial disputes which have occurred in the Irish economy across the period and co-chaired the negotiations between Government and Trade Unions leading to the Croke Park, Lansdowne Road and Haddington Road national agreements.

Kevin is a graduate of UCD, the IPA and the PRII and has acted as an ILO expert providing guidance and advice on labour dispute resolution frameworks to Government, employer and worker representatives, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. He co-authored the standard ILO text on Conciliation in labour disputes.
