Welcome to series of workshops where you will learn how to use your phone camera to produce a high quality, well composed and edited photo, inspired by the work of Thomas MacDonagh, which you would be proud to hang in an exhibition or on your wall.

Your photo will be printed and framed and included in an exhibition in the Museum, with an opportunity to sell your piece.

You will cover:

  • Theme & context: your photo will be inspired by the work of Thomas MacDonagh
  • Essential skills: using your camera and its potential,
  • Taking good photos: composition and lighting
  • Digital editing and presentation

And including printing and exhibition of your photo, with an oppportunity to sell or to keep.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have experience?

No. All levels are welcome, and there will be one-to-one mentoring as well as group learning.

How many workshops will there be?

3 workshops starting on Friday 27 September at 10.00 - 12.00, continuing on the following Fridays 4 October and 11 October. Additional mentoring from Mike may be available.

What will I get?

As well as learning how to take fantastic photos, you will come away with a printed and framed copy of your favourite photo. You will also enjoy exploring some of the works of Thomas MacDonagh with the group.

You mentioned an exhibition?

Yes. You will be invited to exhibit your framed photo in the Museum . The themed exhibition will take place from 15 November until Christmas, and you may offer your work for sale without commission.

Don't worry. We will be providing material which we we'll be discussing in order to get ideas.

Who is Mike Molamphy?

Having been a full time teacher at second and adult education level Mike is now a full time photographer specialising in landscape,wildlife and sports His passion for teaching remains and he regularly works with both individuals and community groups. He currently runs Coolbawn Cross Photography
