About this event

As part of Science Week 2024, The Development and Alumni Relations Office in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Engineering welcomes you to “Ozempic – unravelling fact from fiction”, a hybrid talk. This event delves into the complexities of a drug which has become a hot topic in the media leading to many questions, misunderstandings and myths.

During this interactive panel discussion, Dr Andrew Hogan, MU alum, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biology at MU and Principle Investigator with the Obesity Immunology Research Group and Prof Donal O’Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist of the Obesity Immunology Research Group, will explore the science behind Ozempic – how it works and its impact on health. Using the latest research, they will discuss how these medications have changed the way obesity is treated. They will also address questions such as - does Ozempic cause muscle loss? Does Ozempic increase fertility? And is “Ozempic face” real?

A Q&A session will follow the discussion, with a reception and light refreshments to close the evening.
