Chime, The National Charity for Deafness and Hearing Loss, is hosting a weekend for families whose child has recently been diagnosed with a hearing loss. We would like to invite you and your family to attend our Newly Diagnosed Weekend on Friday 28th February to Sunday 2nd March in the 4 star Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise Town, Co. Laois.
We realize that for parents, the diagnosis of your child’s hearing loss may be somewhat of a shock, therefore, you may have questions about hearing loss, audiology, communication and your child’s development.
The benefit of the weekend is having the information you need in the one place. It is also a chance to meet other families at a similar stage to yourselves. We run workshops on communication development, hearing aid care and assistive technology for school and the home.
Our aim is to offer all families a supportive and confidential environment to share your own experiences. Families stay for the duration of the weekend in the hotel allowing you to chat with our team of experts and other families in a social and relaxed atmosphere. While parents attend the workshops, a professional childcare service is provided onsite.
Childcare is located in the hotel for children aged 0 to 12 years. The crèche services are operated by Catkins on the Move who are registered and compliant with HSE and TUSLA regulations.
The cost of attending the weekend is €80 per adult and €50 per child (0 to 15years) and this includes overnight accommodation Friday and Saturday night, all meals and creche. A Payment link will be sent to you by email and payments will be taken through the Chime website in advance of the weekend. In the event a family being unable to attend, due to our cancellation policy with the hotel we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds after 14th of February.
