New beginnings – Setting revitalizing goals and taking time in Nature

Join us at Festina Lente on Sat Feb 01, for an enchanting morning of creativity and celebration. Embrace the spirit of new beginnings as we honor St Brigid and Imbolc, marking the arrival of spring. The rich history and symbolism behind ancient traditions continue to shape our lives today.

To mark the beginning of Spring: take time to ground, set intentions and create new beginnings with a holistic workshop that will help you add zest and spring into a new chapter of life and renewal.

Grounding Imbolc mindfulness sensory walk in the tranquillity of the beautiful walled gardens
Native Irish Herbal tea ceremony – make and sip a unique local blend to help nurture fresh intentions and new intentions for the season and eat some traditional St Brigid’s Sweet Bannock (gluten free and low sugar version)
Unique Brigid Cloak journaling session – creative prompts and plant-based journaling materials that facilitate and uncloak creation of personal spring action goals and renewal of hope and joy. Take time to set meaningful intentions through a guided, light and fun reflective journaling session.
Seasonal plant crafting - inspired by the abundant ways of Brigid: cloaks, nature crosses and landscape collages to decor your creative, desk, home sacred spaces
Time to self care more deeply: Make therapeutic plant salt and aromatherapy jars to take home – forage and collect wild plants and herbs to create a “new beginning” blend to renew and energize your mind and body. This take away will help you create a soft and warm heart as you enter new beginnings – and support in letting go of what no longer serves the new you.
Edible seed sowing – microgreens and herbal seed sowing to tantalize your new inner and outer garden life!

Festina Lente is a not-for-profit organisation provides a unique range of equestrian and horticultural activities, training, recreational events and employment services options with a strong emphasis on social inclusion, choice and personal development.

We have a variety of public services and facilities for everyone to enjoy on our campus in Bray – an Equestrian Centre offering lessons, camps and equine assisted programmes, a beautifully restored Victorian Walled Garden where we host lots of fun seasonal family and events, children’s workshops and birthday parties and gardening workshops, a Garden Centre, an open air snack bar and shop so why not pop along for a visit. Saol Anois is also a day service run by Festina Lente in our campus. The Saol Anois Day Service is funded by Health Service Executive and it was set up in 2005 to meet the support needs of adults with intellectual disabilities and/or dual diagnosis. It is a supportive and therapeutic service designed to meet the needs of people through individual plans. Service users have the opportunity to access a range of integrated developmental and leisure opportunities.

Our campus is situated in the grounds of what was once Old Connaught House, formerly the residence of the Plunket family. Read more on the History of Old Connaught House & Gardens and Festina Lente Foundation. Festina Lente (Latin) means Hasten Slowly and is the Plunket family motto. We adopted this as the name of our organisation in 1995 because it conveys our culture perfectly. Festina Lente was founded in 1988 by Mary Rachel Brophy; her aim was through social and economic inclusion, to support those most at risk. The result of all of the Festina Lente’s hard work is the wonderful garden and state of the art Equestrian Centre which are available to the public to enjoy whenever they want.
