Let's celebrate la Francophonie in Greystones!

Come join us at the Greystones Youth Café for a fun-filled event celebrating French-speaking cultures from around the world.

Enjoy watching the most acclaimed movie, "Les Choristes", delicious food and engaging activities that showcase the diversity and richness of the Francophone community while helping a very worthy cause.

You are also welcome to buy a ticket for another Francophone cultural event in The Whale Theatre, the screening of "Carmen" the Bizet Opera live from the Opera de Paris! (link below, €17.50) where you will have the possibility to make a donation for Mayotte.

All proceeds will go to Mayotte, a little French island near Madagascar. Mayotte has been very badly affected by a recent hurricane. The island has been decimated, and we would like to raise awareness of this small part of France with the students and the local community.

Whether you're a fluent French speaker or just curious about the language and culture, this event is perfect for anyone looking to immerse themselves in all things French.

Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with others who share a love for la Francophonie!

More info to come!

Don José, a serviceman, falls under the spell of Carmen, a gypsy woman he has let escape when he was supposed to arrest her. After several months together, Carmen tires of her jealous lover and falls in love with the toreador Escamillo. Whereas Don José’s mother gets ill, Micaëla is unable to make him go back to their village. Don José is desperate to win back Carmen.

PresentationBy adapting Prosper Mérimée’s novella Carmen, Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy wrote one of the most famous librettos in the history of opera. Calixto Bieito’s production is positioned in a relatively abstract spatiotemporal environment. In a setting marked by the emptiness of barren landscapes, the characters’ appetite for life and their destructive passions unveil at breakneck speed.
