National Drawing Day Workshop for Adults
17th May from 2-3.30pm.
led by artist Vivienne Byrne
Join artist Vivienne Byrne whose work Precarious Settlements was recently exhibited in AMPLIFY: Young People Curate.
The workshop itself proposes to:
- find a composition
- find the lines that represent that view.
- draw using line alone
The ambition is to work outside for as much time as possible onto Laurence Street, so dress for mixed weather, and if the weather isn't suitable the workshop will take place in the Upper Gallery.
In the session you will use black pen/ biro and work on A3 paper, with the gallery procing the materials (unless you want to use your own) and the gallery will also have a light chair for those who need seating.
Workshop Detail:
The first 20 mins of the workshop will be an introduction, exploring different ways to draw using line and a short meditation using line to document
Once outside where Laurence Street itself offers lots of opportunities, Vivienne will engage with all participants individually, answering any questions and offering guidance, in terms of structure, measuring, considering negative space, how and where the lines fall in relation to each other.
After 40/50mins, you will return to the gallery where Vivienne plans to introduce a different colour of pen to the process- to either add a layer to our existing image or, create a new image based on the information collected in our drawing.
Dress for the weather!
All materials supplied including tea, coffee and biscuits.
