About this event

Can you whisper, rustle, or growl? How about color, create, and stick things together? If so, this workshop is for you! Discover the magic of storytelling, bring the story to life with sound and movement and craft your own imaginative art to take home. Perfect for kids and grown-ups who love to get creative and have fun!

In these series, each session is different but connected to an overall theme. Come to as many workshops as you like!

*Language: English + Irish + Bring your own! While the workshops will be guided in English, we encourage families to embrace their home languages. This fosters meaningful connections between parents and children, creating a truly inclusive environment.

**Booking is required. When you reserve a child ticket, the accompanying adult is automatically included. Please remember that children must be under the supervision of an accompanying adult throughout the workshops.

***Activities have been specifically designed for children 3 to 6. If you have an older child (even beyond this age range) who wishes to participate, they are more than welcome (please book a place for them too). For children younger than 2.5 years, the activities might be too complex, but they are absolutely welcome to accompany their older siblings. No need to reserve a spot for younger accompanying children.

This workshops series is part of the award-winning Language Explorers programme, which has shown to improve parents’ and children’s confidence in using their mother tongue and enhance children’s language and communication skills. Find out more.

This workshop series is funded by the Arts Council and the South Dublin Arts Office.

Mother Tongues is a social enterprise working to promote multilingualism and intercultural dialogue in Ireland.

Since our foundation in 2017 we have inspired many schools, libraries and community organisations to embrace multilingualism and act as catalysts for change, showing that Ireland welcomes all linguistic and cultural identities, and inspiring future generations of bilingual and multilingual children.

Our goal is to inspire everyone in society to be open to linguistic and cultural diversity and value the benefits that multilingualism brings to individuals, communities and to our society as a whole. Children can reach their full potential by developing English alongside Irish and their family language, but to do so they need parents who are motivated to keep up their mother tongue, teachers who are positive about every language and a society that welcomes linguistic diversity in all its forms.

This is why the projects we develop at Mother Tongues focus on children, by offering them opportunities to develop their language skills, parents, giving them the confidence to transmit their language to their children and teachers, enhancing their awareness of linguistically responsive practice. We work all over Ireland and collaborate with many organisations in the delivery of our programmes.
