Come join us for an informative webinar all about the elusive Irish Stoat!

Did you know that stoats found on the island of Ireland and the Isle of Man are different from their European counterparts? Data collected during the recent Irish Stoat Citizen Science Survey (2023–2025) provides new insights into this elusive animal's distribution and behaviour. Discover what we’ve learnt about the island’s smallest carnivore and how citizen science has helped to reveal its secrets.

This survey was led by Vincent Wildlife Trust in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Data Centre, the University of Galway, and the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording.

For 50 years, Vincent Wildlife Trust (VWT) has led the way in supporting the recovery of mammal species such as the otter, horseshoe bats, and pine marten. VWT is respected internationally as a leader in developing and implementing innovative approaches that halt and reverse declines in threatened mammal species, thereby directly addressing biodiversity loss. VWT has had a permanent presence in Ireland since 1995. The main focus of VWT Ireland's work is currently the lesser horseshoe bat, Irish stoat and the pine marten.
