About this event

John Kelleher, who was Ireland’s last Film Censor and first Director of Film Classification, presents and narrates this fascinating story of Irish movie censorship.

Drawing on contributions from historians, filmmakers, movie archivists and media commentators, together with clips from movies like Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, Ulysses, The Graduate, Monty Python’s Life of Brian and many more - including scenes that Irish audiences never saw - John illustrates how the story of Irish film censorship mirrored the evolution of Irish society itself over the course of the last one hundred years.
