About this event

  • Event lasts 11 hours 30 minutes

Hen's Teeth is excited to present the 3rd installment of Sukar, an event co-curated with Moving Still. Translating to “sugar” in Arabic, Sukar is designed to be a sweet escape into a world of rhythm and flavour.

As always, we'll be serving some treats from the kitchen all day, alongside live music with Jafra, and DJ sets from Moving Still, Nora Moon, DJ Karmawi & Masha.

We're also delighted to welcome the good folks at Skate Pal who will be popping up during the daytime with lots of goodies, with all proceeds going to help young kids in Palestine through skateboarding.

About:

Skatepal

SkatePal was founded in 2013 with the aim of developing a self-sustaining skateboarding scene in Palestine.

After more than a decade of work, we are proud to partner with these local organisations run by young skateboarders in the West Bank and Gaza.

Moving Still

Moving Still is an Arab-Irish DJ and producer whose tracks have set the electronic music scene ablaze. His eclectic and groundbreaking sound has stormed the festival circuit, topping Rush Hour charts and securing coveted spots on Spotify editorial playlists like Altar and Future Pioneer. He has earned unwavering support from the likes of Palms Trax, Hunee, Laurent Garnier, Esa Williams, Nabihah Iqbal, Skatebård, David Vunk, Barbara Boeing, Paula Tape, Eclair Fifi, Marvin & Guy, CC:DISCO!, Yu Su, and other heavyweights.

Moving Still is known for his HINRG productions such as “Sidi Mansour” by Cheba Yamina, a festival favourite worldwide. The track has been featured by Mixmag and included in Resident Advisor’s annual playlist 'Best Vocal Bangers'. His original track “Al Disco Haram” was featured by Sloth Boogie and praised for its grumbling
Italo-esque bassline. It was also highlighted in Nabihah Iqbal's sets, which further boosted his global reputation. Additionally, “Al Disco Haram” was chosen as a highlight track in the BBC documentary “A Little Flat: The Music Our Ears Overlook” by Nabihah and Nooriyah.

Jafra
Jafra is a trio including Palestinian singer Leen, oud player Abdullah and the amazing Moroccan percussionist Latif. They spread Arabic and Palestinian culture and music, sharing sounds of the Middle East to audiences across Ireland.

The group came together as part of the Seisiún Palestíneach culture night event, and though you'll find each performing on their own, together is when the magic really happens.

Masha
A fresh name on the scene, Masha is stepping behind the decks for the first time, bringing a new spark to Arabic pop. Think shimmering synths, hypnotic
rhythms, and an infectious love for the dancefloor.
For her debut set, she’s on warm-up duties, setting the mood with a mix of nostalgia and modern club energy. It’s her first time, but with vibes like this, it
definitely won’t be her last.

Nora Moon
Nora Moon is a Dublin-based DJ. Her selection is deeply influenced by her North African roots and shaped by her experiences abroad. A fresh face on the Dublin night scene, her sounds are a celebration of diverse musical cultures through her unique approach to storytelling.

DJ Karmawi
DJ Karmawi (slang for a person from Tulkarm, Palestine) recently appeared in the club scene with the aim to bring diverse sounds from all corners of electronic music to Irish dancefloors. He regularly gigs at Electric Galway and has had recent Dublin debuts in Luckys, Sound House, Pawn Shop and Wigwam.
