Age & Opportunity and the RHA presents ‘Getting going and keeping going

Tuesday 5th November 11.30 AM- 3.30 PM, RHA Friends Room

Getting going and keeping going is a professional development event which aims to provide inspiration, pathways and mentoring supports for artists wishing to emerge and sustain an art practice in later life. The day will be divided into two parts and starts with a morning session featuring artists Karen Ebbs and Anita Groener in conversation, followed by an afternoon mentoring session, both of which must be separately booked.

Discussion: 11.30am - 1.00pm

This discussion invites emerging and experienced artists Karen Ebbs and Anita Groener respectively, to look at the challenges, models and tools to develop and sustain a practice in later life and explore how to stay motivated and connected in the second part of your career.

Places are free and are booked separately.

Mentoring: 1.30pm - 3.30pm

The afternoon will provide 30 minute mentoring opportunities for small groups of artists led by Karen Ebbs and Anita Groener. There are 9 places available to book for each artist (18 in total) and places will be reserved on a first come first served basis. Artists should bring a laptop with some examples of their work which they can present at their allocated mentoring session for a maximum of 3 mins.

Places cost €10 and are booked separately.

Artists booking mentoring slots are encouraged to attend and book a place at the discussion. To ensure a place at the discussion mentees must book by Friday 18th October.

Organized by

We are Age & Opportunity, the national organisation that provides a range of opportunities for older people who want to get more involved in arts and culture, sport and physical activity, civic engagement and personal development. Our aim is to enable the best quality of life for us all as we age, where we can be more active, more visible, more creative, more connected and more confident.

We work with local communities and organisations across the country to run a range of programmes and activities in three key areas:

• Age & Opportunity Arts provides opportunities for us to engage more in arts and cultural events and initiatives.

• Age & Opportunity Active is designed to get us more active and to participate more in recreational sport and physical activity.

• Age & Opportunity Engage offers a range of workshops and learning initiatives for our own resilience and personal development as well as opportunities for us to play an active role in our community.
