About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

Come rain or come shine, join a family activity day at the National Space Centre celebrating all things cosmic! Become a citizen scientist and learn how to help identify the shapes of thousands of galaxies in images taken by ESA’s Euclid space telescope... from your own back garden (or sofa!) These classifications will help scientists answer questions about how the shapes of galaxies have changed over time, and what caused these changes and why.

Visitors will then create their own galaxy art in a 30-minute hands-on creative session for all ages led by visual artist Victoria Tammadge.

Finally, the afternoon will wrap up with a guided tour of the National Space Centre and the groundstations on site surrounding Ireland's iconic 32-metre Big Dish.

VICTORIA TAMMADGE is a Visual Artist based in East Cork. Through the mediums of watercolour and ink, she draws inspiration from her botanical surroundings and the cyclical nature of life. Victoria is a regular Primary level workshop facilitator at Greywood and truly enjoys engaging with young creatives.
