Winners of NI Music Prize 2024 Live Act of the Year, Belfast-based 'tradtronica' collective Huartan has been breathing new life into ancient words and melodies. This dynamic ensemble consists of three Irish traditional musicians: Catriona Ní Ghribín, Múlú, and Stiofán Ó Luachrain, who also serves as the band’s producer. Their mission is to reintroduce contemporary audiences to the oral singing tradition and native language of Ulster. In a playful re-imagining and rousing reclamation of pagan Ireland, the Huartan live show is immersive and otherworldly, featuring dancers, Mícheal Ó Cóighligh and Anan Poloni, who embody the unsettling presence of the síogaí (fairies/shapeshifters).

Their first release is ‘Bean Udaí Thall’ [pronounced: Bahn-addy-hal] (‘The Woman Yonder’). Revitalising one of the oldest Irish-language murder ballads, it tells the story of two sisters, one of whom drowns the other in a fit of jealousy. Featuring haunting vocals and droning synths in hypnotic repetition, ‘Bean Udaí Thall’ seamlessly blends electronica with traditional singing, winning Huartan the inaugural Amhrán na Laoch competition by HotPress.

Winners of the Gradaim Nós 'Newcomer of the Year' award

'Huartan have been one of the key voices in a serious 'realignment' of modern Irish music and culture'. - HotPress

‘When you hear Huartan, you start to wonder why people haven’t been putting traditional music and electronica together more: there’s an element of trance about both when done right'. – Dig With It

IMLÉ are an award winning collective of musicians under the stewardship of Dublin-based musician and producer Cian Mac Cárthaigh. IMLÉ mix different musical styles together in a way that has never been heard before in the Irish language musical sphere. They have released two albums so far, their self-titled debut in 2016 and FÁILTE ISTEACH in 2022, as well as 2025’s EP entitled Taoille. The group have played all over the world, including sold-out shows at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections Festival, the SUNS Europe Festival in Udine, Italy; as well as numerous shows in Holland, London and Manchester. They have made TV appearances on RTÉ One, TG4 and Virgin Media One and regularly heard on Irish Radio.

The group recently gained international recognition when two versions of their song PEACACH was used as the main title music in the international Netflix series BODKIN. The current IMLÉ line-up features Cian Mac Cárthaigh, multi-instrumentalist Neil Ó Briain and singers/rappers Róisín Seoighe and James Shannon. The group have just released a brand new EP entitle TAOILLE (tide). IMLÉ have always made a point of fusing different genres in their music. The title TAOILLE (Tide) was chosen as it is a perfect metaphor for IMLÉ's music - something constantly shifting, flowing, and evolving. Musically this EP sees the group blend elements of rap, dream pop, disco and trip hop to make their own distinctive sound.

Woodsmen are one of the newest Folk-Rock bands to emerge in the Irish music scene. The band was formed in the corridors of the British and Irish Modern Music Institute by songwriter Arron Woods (Rhythm Guitar/ Vocals) who recruited renowned musicians Cam Teehan (Drums) and Josh Hackett (Lead Guitar).

They blend an exciting Rock & Roll sound that honours the distinct history of Irish Rock, with the philosophical freedom of the Folk landscape. Their implementation of considered melody will entice you to sing along to their songs whether it’s the 1st or 1000th time you’ve listened to them. The bands amalgamation of genre, creates a nostalgic but exhilarating and fresh sound, that will make you think you’ve been listening to them for years.

The band’s style can be placed into a number of genres including Singer Songwriter, Folk- Rock, Roots Rock, Rock & Roll and elements of Country, appealing to the ears of all listeners.

Heron Red are putting a fresh spin on Irish folk music. Molly Buchan and Callum Wall formed the band in late 2024, After the dispersal of their passed multi-genre artist collective “Ganzy”.

Now the duo have decided to go their own way, teaming up to perform their preferred arrangement.
