About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Join us for an introduction to Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home. This short tour will visit the off-site exhibitions at The Pumphouse, Dublin Port and finish with refreshments and conversation.

Meet at the orange cabin at the entrance to The Pumphouse, Alexandra Road, Dublin Port at 12pm.

Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home takes its title from James Joyce’s Ulysses. Characteristically elusive in his meaning, Joyce’s use of this popular idiom hints at a circuitous route back to one’s origins. The phrase itself is often used to describe the relationship between time and labour and, in the case of this exhibition, there are further associations with journeys, departures, homecomings, and new beginnings.

Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home is curated an produced by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios in partnership with Dublin Port Company. The partnership presents two solo exhibitions Dublin Port; dream sequence by Yuri Pattison and Beep Beep by Liliane Puthod. This tour is part of a programme of weekly Saturday events.

This is a free event, booking essential as spaces are limited.
