Exhibition Opening Talk

Saturday 26th April with access to the exhibition from 3pm, In-conversation from 3.20pm

This talk will be ISL Irish Sign Language Interpreted.

The exhibition opening taking the form of an informal gallery talk with Erin Lawlor and Dr Angela Griffith, Department of the History of Art and Architecture, Trinity College Dublin.

The exhibition is a Highlanes Gallery National Tour with partners Galway International Arts Festival and Source Arts Centre, Co. Tipperary.

The exhibition continues until Sunday 15th June, 2025

Erin Lawlor’s recent works explore more than ever before a sense of place. She has long embraced painting as a space of both projection and psychological construct, yet in concrete terms, working as she does horizontally and alla prima, the canvas itself becomes a ground, an immersive space of intensive labour. Each painting is a many-layered history ‘event’ in the becoming, but one which fundamentally requires an overall integrity in the final instance.

The title ‘divining’ refers to both a minute and essential geological reading, but also to an intuitive interpretation, and to notions of a (fantasised) ideal.

Tea, coffee, Prosecco and cakes will be served.

The event is free and open to the public.
