The Endoscopic Sinus & Skull Base Surgery Course 2025 will be brought to you by UCC, College of Medicine & Health, and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). It will be held in The ASSERT Centre, College of Medicine & Health, UCC, Cork on 28 & 29 of January 2025.
This course will cover all areas of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. The course is aimed at trainees with an emphasis on ergonomic and optimal technique in the performance of more commonplace and advanced sinus and skull base surgery procedures.
Techniques that will be covered :-
- Endoscopic sinonasal pedicled flap raising
- Lateral nasal wall dissection
- Antrostomy and prelacrimal approaches to the maxillary sinus
- Medial Maxillectomy
- Endoscopic ethmoidectomy
- Endoscopic approaches to the frontal sinus
- Endoscopic sphenoidotomy and approaches to the pituitary fossa
- Endoscopic Hypophsectomy
- Extended transphenoid approaches to the anterior skull base
- Cranial approaches to the skull base
The course will offer 11 participants access to a dissection specimen. It will also offer the opportunity for 7 observers to attend the dissection and observe the surgical techniques.
The course is performed at the ASSERT’s state-of-the-art medical simulation facility and will run in a simulated surgical skills lab environment using fresh frozen cadaveric specimens. The use of fresh cadaveric specimens allows for high-fidelity simulated clinical practice.
