Local historian John Seery will guide a fascinating tour outlining the emergence of Dublin’s ‘Golden Age’ when the city became one of Europe’s largest and foremost centres of culture and grand civic design. The tour starts at Henrietta Street where the Georgian city as we know it today began, and traverses the 18th century city of Dorset Street, Parnell Square and then finally at Mountjoy Square where the Golden Age ended. Along the way, we will stop at points commenting on famous (and not so famous!) people heavily associated with the area including notorious aristocrats, radical political figures, enlightened intellectuals as well as artists and writers that lived in the area.

This guided walking tour is an excellent opportunity to learn about the buildings and the heritage of this historic area which has an unusually high concentration of historical figures that have shaped the city, the nation, and in some instances, the world.

With this guided walking tour, you will get our “Dorset Street” collectable illustrated booklet.
