Dublin Twerk Class

  • Have you always wanted to learn to twerk but are convinced you can't?
  • Do you struggle to find time for mental and physical self-care?
  • Have you attended classes in the past only to leave feeling a little blue?

If you answered yes to any of those.....then this twerk class is for you!

Dublin Twerk classes are on Thursdays from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in Room 2 of Temple Lane Studios, our dance space is the place to let your inhibitions go and embrace your inner dancer.

My classes are a mixture of playing, self-care, mindfulness, and fitness. In this 1hr class, you will shake, move, bounce, laugh, and learn how to twerk in an inclusive welcoming space with like-minded people. I welcome all body types, abilities, and gender expressions in my class.

As your twerk instructor, I, Tendai, will guide you through twerk techniques and a short routine that will leave you feeling relaxed, energised, and empowered.

Whether you are an absolute beginner, improver, or pro, everyone is welcome because this class is beginner-friendly and a judgment-free zone. My classes celebrate bodies, movement and music of all types. Each class ends with a touch of mindfulness, some affirmations and some silliness so you leave feeling relaxed and at ease.

About 'Twerking'

While “twerk” is a term that originated on the New Orleans bounce scene, this style of dancing is found in many countries across the African continent and has just as many names, like Jiti, Mapouka and more.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to dance?

No, I teach you every step of the way. Every level of dance experience is welcome in twerk class.

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel most comfortable in. If you want to see that infamous twerk jiggle I recommend: • Shorts • Loose fitting cotton leggings

Do I need kneepads

Knee pads are only needed for floor work heavy classes. But, if you have knee injuries, always bring a pair just in case.

I have an old reoccurring injury, will I have eo

As someone with a history of injuries, I always make sure I have modifications prepared so no one is excluded.

Is twerking a proper workout?

It most definitely is! Every class starts with a warm up and ends with a cool down. If you like to track your workouts, you can also expect to burn up to 500cals per class.

What makes your class inclusive?

As a disabled, plus size and queer instructor, I endeavour to create spaces where I would feel welcome.
