Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a new challenge, this event is perfect for all levels of walker. The allure of the 2025 Dingle Way Challenge lies in the diverse landscapes of the route options:

1]The Ultra Route (45Km) starts at Halla Le Chéile, Ballyquin, Brandon (V92 DK4C) on the Brandon Bay side , west over the rugged landscape towards Brandon Head.The route will change in a south westerly direction bringing you past Arraglen Ogham Stone located on the saddle between Más an Tiompáin (763m) and Piaras Mór (746m), onwards to Feonach, Muiríoch and the refreshment stop at the An Ghaeltacht GAA Club. Having been fortified with a hot breakfast you continue via the 'Pilgrim Route' towards the foot of Mount Brandon, onto R549, Reenconnell Cross where the route heads northwards to join to 'The Old Military Road' pathway, passing Loch Geal and onwards to finish in Cloghane. (An Clochán – meaning the stone building, or the stepping stone).

Car parking and check in will be in St. Pat's GAA Club, Blennerville, Tralee (V92 RH98) from 4:15am to 4:45am and the Ultra Route bus will leave at 5am to take you to the start point.

2] The Standard Route (20 Km) begins at the Ghaeltacht GAA Club grounds, Gallarus (V92 P934) from where you continue to join the the 'Pilgrim Route' leading towards the foot of Mount Brandon, onto R549, Reenconnell Cross where the route heads northwards to join to 'The Old Military Road' pathway, passing Loch Geal and onwards to finish inthe village of Cloghane. (An Clochán – meaning the stone building, or the stepping stone).

Car parking and check in will be in St. Pat's GAA Club, Blennerville, Tralee (V92 RH98) from 7:00am to 7:30am and the Standard Route bus will leave at 7:45am to take you to the start point.

3] The first leg of the Ultra Section (25km) from Halla Le Chéile, Ballyquin, Brandon (V92 DK4C) to An Ghaeltacht GAA Club grounds, Gallarus (V92 P934). From Halla Le Chéile, Ballyquin, Brandon (V92 DK4C) to on the Brandon Bay side , heading southwesterly over the rugged landscape towards Brandon Head and heading down the westerly coast towards Feonach and onwards to Muiríoch and the refreshment stop at the An Ghaeltacht GAA Club. Having been fortified with a hot breakfast you may decide to complete the challenge at this point.

Car parking and check in for the Ultra section in will be in St. Pat's GAA Club, Blennerville, Tralee (V92 RH98) from 4:15am to 4:45am and the Ultra Route bus will leave at 5am to take you to the start point.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an endurance type event?

The DIngle Way Challenge is a walking event that you can enjoy with other walking enthusiasts as you trek through this area of natural beauty. The Challenge route will be on old walkways and on some minor roadways that you should be able to walk at a comfortable pace to finish by the cut off time

Is the Dingle Way Challenge a race?

The DWC is not a race. You can walk at a pace that is comfortable for you and allows you to complete whatever section of the route you undertake by 4pm i.e. will have signed off as completed at a checkpoint along the route or in Cloghane.

What age do you have to be to participate in the Dingle Way Challenge?

The minimum age limit is 18 years of age to participate.

What happens at Check-in on the morning of the event?

At Check-in you will be asked to • sign a waiver, • confirm what stages you intend completing. You will get your participant numbers to affix (i) to your outer clothing and be clearly visible for the duration of the walk (ii) externally to the bag you will have on the walk & (iii) to your 2nd bag.

Do I have to carry spare clothes etc. in my backpack on the walk?

Each participant can have a 2nd bag for spare clothes, extra snacks, etc. This bag will be transported to the end of each stage where you can access it, and again at the finish of the route. Of course you should have sufficient gear for each stage in the bag with you on the walk.

My dog accompanies me on a lot of my walks can I bring my dog on the DWC?

Dogs, on leads or otherwise, are not permitted on the Challenge.
