Join us during Cruinniú na nÓg for a creative workshop with screenwriter Jonathan Hughes!

During this workshop, screenwriter Jonathan Hughes will take you on a tour through the world of short films, screening one of his own and showing off some tips and tricks to help any budding screenwriter tell their stories for the big screen and write their own film scripts. He will also detail exactly how he got started in the Irish film and TV industry, including deciding on the right CAO course, how he ended up working on The Young Offenders and answer any and all of your questions.

Jonathan Hughes is a screenwriter, playwright and script supervisor based in Limerick City. His distinctive voice has translated into surreal comedy projects that have strong universal appeal. Thus far he has received funding and support from the likes of Screen Ireland, RTE, Ardán, Filmbase, the Arts Council of Ireland, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and Screen Talent Europe among others for his writing. In 2024, Jonathan was selected as part of the Screen Ireland Spotlight Stage to Screen scheme for new writers where he adapted his short stage comedy FÉÍS MOMS for the big screen. He currently has a number of projects at varying stages of development with producers and production companies all over the UK and Ireland, and also works as a script supervisor for films and television shows, including BBC and RTE’s The Young Offenders.
