About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Aoife Munn is a sustainability consultant who will talk about home composting and the possibilities for Tidy Towns and estates to do some community composting. We will learn how to turn your kitchen scraps and garden waste into a valuable fertilizer that can enrich soil and plants. Anything that grows decomposes, and composting speeds up the process by providing the ideal environment for bacteria, fungi, and other decomposing organisms (such as worms) to go to work! Referred to by some farmers as “black gold,” compost can be used for gardening, horticulture, and agriculture.
