Comedy Unleashed

Comedy Unleashed was founded by Andrew Doyle and Andy Shaw in response to increasing self-censorship in comedy. As the UK's Home of Free-thinking Comedy it sells out monthly stand-up comedy shows in London, Leeds and Manchester.

The club hosts counter-cultural comedians, celebrates free-thinking comedy and takes a stand against censorship by showcasing cancelled comedians and organising gigs against censorship laws.

Andrew Doyle

Playwright, journalist, author, political satirist and stain comic, Andrew Doyle is also the co-founder of Comedy Unleashed - the UK's free-speech comedy club.

Many people know Andrew from his hit parody character Titania McGrath, the entitled social justice warrior. Originally born in Derry, Andrew now produces the comedian-led news reviews show Headliners and Free Speech Nation on the UK TV channel GB News. He is the author of Free Speech and Why It Matters (2021) and The New Puritans: How the Religion of Social Justice Captured the Western World (2022).

Graham Linehan

Graham is one of our top sitcom and comedy writers, including Father Ted and The IT Crowd. Graham has campaigned for women’s rights and had been targeted by activists as a result. He has been cancelled from his own creation Father Ted Musical and has been trying his hand at stand-up comedy. Graham performed outside the Scottish Parliament at the Edinburgh Fringe, after his Comedy Unleashed show was cancelled. Graham’s recent autobiography Tough Crowd charts how he made and lost a career in comedy.

Aidan Killan

Aidan Killian is a spirited, charismatic and passionate storyteller and comedian who left a corporate banking job in 2008 to save the world, one endorphin at a time. He studied storytelling at Emerson College in 2009 and at the Mezrab Storytelling School in 2020.

Aidan’s impassioned and hilarious shows have been known to expose the hypocrisy and injustice in this world while leaving the audience in a state of joy. After a show, at Electric Picnic he was greeted with a giant group hug.

He is in demand internationally as an experienced, professional and truly global act, and has performed shows all over the world; A peace festival in the Middle East, Off Broadway in New York, The Amsterdam Storytelling Festival in 2019 and he did a storytelling tour of Ireland called The Sitting Room Bards.

He has performed his unique comedy style for 7 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and was a ‘highlight’ at Glastonbury Festival 2016 and 2017. In 2017 he was nominated for Best Comedian at The World Fringe and has been sharing laughter on stages all over the world since.

He is presently passionate about sharing the ancient wisdom from Irish Mythology and believes that peace can be gained from a well-told story, and shall keep telling stories until this is achieved. He is excited about his eighth one man show, the story of Ireland’s mythological saviour, Lugh.

Lewis Schaffer

Lewis is the darling of the satirical news show Headliners. He’s a top New York comedian who settled in the UK. He is particularly loved by women of a certain age - charming, unpredictable, spontaneously surreal and utterly maverick.
