As one of 5 children in a home shaped by her parents' heroin addiction, Katriona's story chronicles her journey from poverty, teenage pregnancy, homelessness to graduating with a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and becoming an award-winning lecturer whose work challenges barriers to education.
We encourage all stakeholders who work with families at risk or living in poverty to attend this important event. There will be an opportunity to look at what are the issues impacting families across the five towns in Monaghan, to examine the services in place, and highlight the gaps in provision. The Interangency Action for Families working group is supported by a number of agencies in Monaghan and the will be hosted through Teach na Daoine. This joint Children and Young People's Services Committee and Local Community Development Committe project received funding through the What Works prevention and early intervention initiative which receives it's funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund. The Dormant Accounts fund is managed by the Dept of Rural and Community Development.
