Chhath Mahaparv 2024

India is a land of festivals where each festival is celebrated with sheer enthusiasm and devotion. One of the most important festivals, which is celebrated just after a week of Diwali, is Chhath Puja. The festival occurs on the Kartika Shukla Shashti, which is the sixth day of the month of Kartika, according to the Hindu calendar. The four-day-long festival is of great significance and celebrated with great fervour & enthusiasm primarily in the states of North India i.e. Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal. Devotees mark the festival by observing fast and offering prayers to the god of light, energy and life force i.e. Sun God and his wife Usha, also known as Chhathi Maiya. It is believed that worshipping the sun offers longevity, positivity, prosperity and well-being.

DAY 1: Sandhya Arghya on Thursday, 7 November between 3 PM and 8 PM

12:00PM - Volunteers Arrival

12:30PM - Decoration and Ghat making

3 :00 PM - Arrival of attendees

4:00PM - Arrival of chief guests

4:15PM -5:00PM - Sandhya Argh and Puja (depends on sunset time)

5:00PM (after Sandhya argh) - Inaugural Speech by honourable guests and BJAI members

5:30PM-7:00PM - Cultural Program

7:00PM - Cleaning and wrap-up by 8PM

DAY 2: Usha Arghya on Friday, 8 November between 6AM and 10 AM.

6:00AM - Arrival

7:00AM - Arrival of attendees

7:20AM-8:00AM - Usha Argh (depends on sunrise time)

8:00AM-9:00AM - Cleaning and wrap-up

9:00AM-10:00 AM - Fruit Prasad Distribution

NOTE: We will NOT provide food but it will be available to purchase at the venue. We will provide fruit Prasad on Friday, 8 November after Usha Arghaya.
