Presenter Profile - Stephanie O’Connor ICMG
I began my career as a Veterinary Nurse while developing my grooming skills in parallel. I opened my bespoke salon almost 25 years ago and during this time I completed my Level 3 Diploma in Dog Styling through City & Guilds, and more recently my Internationally Certified Mastergroomer qualification through IPG.
I am passionate about Asian Fusion grooming, which is a unique style of grooming, developing and enhancing my skill set by completing a comprehensive training programme with world renowned Asian Fusion expert Pammie Carmichael Hogg, cementing my expertise in this field by attending a training session at the prestigious Dolall Grooming School in Seoul, South Korea.
In recognition for this dedication I have been nominated twice for Asian Fusion Groomer of the Year. I play an ambassador role for the “Asian Fusion Grooming by Pammie” brand, and was invited to judge the Asian group at the 2021 Groomers Got Talent competition in Belfast.
I believe strongly in educating and skill development, regularly giving workshops, 1 on 1 training and demos at groomers salons all over the country, as well as providing training sessions and demos at my own salon. This training supports the skillset development of groomers which enhances their capabilities for commercial grooming and enables them to compete at the highest level on the grooming competition circuit.
I enjoy competing at both open and championship level, here are some of my highlights:
- 1st place Asian Open class at Madra Mania, 2017
- 1st place Asian Champion class at K9 Pet Stylist Expo, 2018
- 1st place Asian Champion class at the County Grooming Championships, 2019
- Reserve Best in Show at the County Grooming Championships, 2019
- 1st place Asian Open Scissors class at Madra Mania, 2022
- 1st place Clipped Champion class at Groomers Got Talent, 2023
- Satellite centre and tutor to the iPET Network Level 3 Award in Asian Fusion Wool Coat Teddy Style, 2023
- 2024, co-founded SSWAGD Education
- Judging appointments at multiple dog grooming competitions

Continual professional development is so important in a dog groomers career, I deliver bespoke 1 to 1 training for existing groomers specializing in breed standard styling and teddy bear trims.
I graduated from Sparsholt College in 2006 with a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management, I have been in the dog grooming industry for over 20 years and in 2007 made it a full time career getting trained under a Guild of Master Groomer, where I remained as an employee until 2022. Over the years I have played a part in training many dog groomers who have since gone on to operate their own successful salons and they have had great success in the competition ring.
In 2014 I became fully qualified with a City & Guilds Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists. Furthermore in 2018 I gained my Master Craftsman dog grooming qualification, making me the first male dog groomer in the Republic of Ireland to become a Certified Master Dog Groomer.
Over the years I have successfully competed in dog grooming competitions at a very high standard and regularly win or get placed in various classes. l am an internationally award winning dog groomer with career highlights being awarded Reserve Dog Groomer of the Year in both 2016 and 2022 in the annual IPDGA (Irish Professional Dog Groomers Association) competition.
In 2022 I opened my own state of the art grooming salon called WHO’S A GOOD DOG? in Raheny, Dublin 5
