Under the baton of our musical director and conductor, John Doyle, we invite you to join Dun Laoghaire Choral Society for a night to remember as we close our 2024-2025 season with a wonderful evening of Opera.
Our programme features a semi-staged production of Mascagni’s beloved Opera Cavalleria rusticana, a tale of love, betrayal, and raw Sicilian emotion.
With minimal staging and maximal emotional impact, our stellar cast of soloists will bring Mascagni’s unforgettable characters to life:
Aaron Cawley as the tormented Turiddu, whose reckless heart sets the tragedy in motion
Katy Kelly as the heartbroken Santuzza, torn between love and despair
Gyula Nagy as Alfio, the wronged husband whose fury cannot be contained
Victoria Massey as Lucia, Turiddu’s mother, a quiet yet powerful presence
Raphaela Mangan as Lola, the seductive spark in this emotional firestorm
But that’s not all.
The evening also includes performances of some of Opera’s most loved choruses
“Va, pensiero” (from Nabucco by Verdi): A poignant chorus expressing the longing and sorrow of Hebrew exiles, symbolizing a deep yearning for freedom and homeland.
“Humming Chorus” (from Madama Butterfly by Puccini): A delicate, wordless interlude that conveys quiet anticipation and emotional stillness as night falls.
“Bell Chorus” (from Pagliacci by Leoncavallo): A vibrant and festive chorus where church bells and village voices evoke the excitement of a public celebration.
Our ensemble for the evening will be the Dun Laoghaire Consort
Join us for a night to remember.
Please note that the ticket price for this concert is €30.00.
As part of the DLCS accessibility programme, we have a small number of concession tickets priced at €15.00. These tickets are reserved for students and those with limited financial means only.
